Jason started CrossFit in 2017 and obtained his CrossFit L1 certification in November 2017. He also completed his Level 1 coaching certificate for USAW weightlifting in 2019. A competitive Master’s athlete, Jason qualified for the Master’s 40-44 division at Wodapalooza which was held in Miami Florida in February 2020. He has since competed at high level competitions across the country such as the 1st Phorm Monster Games, Master’s Fitness Championship, and the Legends Championship. Prior to starting his CrossFit journey he was an avid bodybuilder. Fitness wasn’t always a priority for him. In fact, before 2010, Jason led a very different lifestyle. A union ironworker by trade, Jason was overweight and smoked at least a pack of cigarettes a day. A family weight loss bet before a vacation in 2010 spurred him to make some changes. He began to research how to change his diet to include healthy choices that he could sustain long term. From there he stopped smoking and introduced bodybuilding into his exercise routine. These changes, along with the changes in how he felt physically and mentally, started his passion for fitness. In 2017, his son started a Ninja class which was being held in a local CrossFit gym. The owner of the gym convinced Jason to give CrossFit a try. He was hooked after day 1. After obtaining his certification, Jason coached at a local CrossFit gym for the past 3 ½ years. He truly enjoys establishing relationships with his athletes and helping them on their own fitness journey. Jason lives in Higganum with his wife, Becky and two children Ally and Toby.
